A little about Maggie

Hi there! I’m Maggie Phillips M.A., CCC-SLP.  I’m a pediatric speech language pathologist who’s passionate about the intersection of language, literacy, and speech sound disorders.  I want to help your child communicate easily with their friends and family.

As an avid reader myself, I also want to help your child learn to love reading! When learning to read and write is difficult, school and home life get stressful, and these challenges can lead to difficulties in learning later on. As your child’s SLP, I’ll use a team approach, working not only with your child, but also with you, their teachers, and any other professionals they work with, to make sure everyone is on the same page.

  • I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Connecticut before moving to Austin, Texas in 2016.  While in Austin, I worked in pediatric clinics and volunteered in local schools. In 2020, I founded Into Words Therapy to provide children and their families with the highest quality intervention possible.  My family and I moved back to the east coast in 2023, settling down in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

I’ve collaborated with local and national organizations such as NCSHLA and DLD and Me, and I am a founding member of US RADLD.

  • Given the wide scope of speech language pathology, I decided to focus my learning in the areas of language, literacy, and speech sounds in order to provide the best services in these areas.

In 2022 I completed the post-masters Certificate of Advanced Study in Literacy and Language at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. This program provided a comprehensive education on the science of reading and structured literacy instruction using principles from multiple approaches including Orton Gillingham.

By narrowing my clinical focus to language, literacy, and speech sounds, I can spend more time learning deeply about these areas. That translates to better treatment for your child!
